Live In housekeeper / nanny needed for a super family with 2 school age boys in Pirbright starting December

The role

This is a ‘sole charge’  nanny housekeeper role, Monday to Friday and involves full days in school holidays 7.00am – 6.30pm and in term time the days are split into 2 parts of mornings. boys are ages 11 and 9 years. 

7.00am – 11.am  and then 3.00pm – 7.00pm .

In term time there is plenty of down time for the nanny housekeeper to do her own thing and take a break.

There is a cleaner so no deep cleaning required but there are ongoing tasks and light housekeeping duties to be done.

There is a spirit of teamwork in the home and we all do our bit to help each other.

The main duties include:

• Driving the boys to and from school and weekday activities
• Preparing their meals
• Ensuring the areas that the boys use are tidy (mainly the kitchen, playroom, their bedrooms)
• Doing the boys’ laundry and changing their bedding
• Keeping their cupboards and school bags organised
• Making sure that they’re prepared for their various activities (in the right place with the right things, on the right day!)
• Making sure homework gets done
• During the holidays, keeping them occupied / entertained, and arranging playdates with friends
• Supervising Magnus - the dog - when we’re at work and he’s not at daycare  
• Occasional babysitting

Other duties are more “as required” – for example, unpacking the grocery deliveries, or maybe running a local errand to the post office. We have a weekly cleaner, so this isn't a cleaning role, but we all do our bit as members of the household day to day..

In practice, the nanny housekeeper would only need to do one or two of the morning school runs a week as they share the school run with another family, and the family usually try to take the boys in themselves on Monday and Friday mornings. In the afternoons, the actual pick-up time varies depending on clubs at school, so they may not need to be picked up until around 4:30pm – 5pm, depending on the day of the week.

This means that there’s a fair amount of ‘non-child’ time during the school term. As long as the duties are completed, we’re very happy for you to do your own thing while the boys are at school. Previous nannies have said that they usually have plenty of time to themselves between the school runs.

During the school holidays, when they’re not away as a family, the role is full time. However, you can create more time for yourself by arranging playdates and activities with the boys' friends! Additionally, the family are happy to help plan trips and to explore options for booking the boys into activities for some of the holiday time.

The person

We’re looking for a proactive and enthusiastic person with energy and confidence, who will bond well with the boys, and muck in with our busy family. Independence and reliability are important, and we’d expect you to be happy to interact with parents in the school playground at pick-up time, arrange playdates and to motivate things like homework. We’ll need you to be a competent driver too , have good solid references from previous families and have a DBS in place too.

Your accommodation

It’s a nice, light, furnished bedroom, with high ceilings and windows on two sides that overlook the back garden. It has a double bed with bedside tables, a large built-in wardrobe, chest of drawers, and a small desk / consul table. It’s been newly carpeted since these photos – will try to update soon.

There isn’t a TV in the room at the moment (there are two others in the house), but the family would be prepared to install one if needed. Perhaps more importantly there is

 unlimited wi-fi throughout the house.

The bathroom is the main family bathroom, shared with the boys, and was refurbished a few years ago.

Car

We have a nice automatic VW Golf SV for driving the boys around. Sometimes the nanny can also use it for personal use locally.

salary

We are offering £310.00 - £400.00 net per week.
